THE CROWN, SYDENHAM

On BBC News

'STAR WARS' Dessert plate created to support charity...

Just prior to Christmas 2016, The Crown Inn received a visit from the BBC in celebration of Chef Will's incredible (and delicious) Star Wars 'Rogue One' inspired dessert plate.

Made in honour of the ASSERT foundation in support of people with Angelman Syndrome, effecting both Star Wars Director, Gareth Edwards' niece Ella, as well as Chef Will's niece Holly.

ASSERT is The Crown Inn's charity of 2017 - well done to Will for helping to raise the profile of this great charity even further, and for producing such a beautiful dessert!

 The Crown Inn

The Crown Inn is a gastropub located in the heart of the Oxfordshire countryside. Dating back to the 1600s, its old world charm is apparent in its hand-carved beams and welcoming fireplaces.

Enjoy a drink at the front of the pub, with views of the sun setting behind the 12th century church, or head to the beer garden out back to relax on the patio overlooking the shaded lawn and the traditional Aunt Sally pub game.

We are open for lunch & dinner from Tuesday to Saturday (serving food from 12noon - 2.30pm and 6pm - 9.30pm). Our delicious Sunday roasts are available from 12noon - 4pm each week.

Opening hours

Tuesday to Friday - 12noon to 3pm, 5pm to 11pm
Saturday - 12noon to Midnight
Sunday - 12noon to 5pm

Closed Monday (except Bank Holidays)

Meet the team

Landlord & Lady, Will & Pippa, took the reins of The Crown Inn in October 2016, and have been joined by a great Front of House team. With many combined years in the hospitality industry, the team are committed to providing a warm welcome and a great dining experience to all our guests.

Aunt Sally

The Crown Inn actively participates and hosts teams involved in the Official 'Aunt Sally' League - a traditional pub game requiring players to throw a wooden baton at a wooden 'dolly', knocking it off a 3ft high post....a true test of skill and aim, it's harder than it looks!

League games of the traditional Oxfordshire game take place over Spring & Summer, but if you fancy giving the game a try in the meantime, just let us know and we'll set everything up for your visit.

Midsomer Murders

The Crown Inn has featured in many episodes of the popular ITV show 'Midsomer Murders' including as recently as last year - with the pub being given the temporary moniker of “The Captain Farrell” in the episode “The Ballad of Midsomer County”.  The iconic location of the pub, in the heart of the beautiful village of Sydenham, makes it an ideal location for a rural film set.
